As Tony Blair's chief scientific adviser, Sir David King, claimed in 2004, it poses "a far greater threat to the world than international terrorism", warning that by the end of this century the only habitable continent left will be Antarctica.

Inevitably, many people have been bemused by this somewhat one-sided debate, imagining that if so many experts are agreed, then there must be something in it. What is most troublesome about the global warming debate is that for many there is no debate. Many think that it is indiputable fact. Many that believe this are scientists that should know the difference between theory and fact.

On this issue, debate is very much needed, but sadly absent.

Agreed we need debate. This issue has become the PC standard bearer. You can believe anything you want as long as it agrees that we caused global warming.
