The End of Christian America

Not surprising.  At the same time if the economic turmoil continues the church could (and most probably will) strengthen.

Another thing that also seems to be happening is that the people who do claim to be christian are (anecdotaly) more committed.

The percentage of self-identified Christians has fallen 10 points in the past two decades. How that statistic explains who we are now—and what, as a nation, we are about to become.

I would believe that Americans are turning away from "organized" religion. I don't believe they are turning away from God.

People, not just Americans, are turning away from government, politicians, corporations, "religions", etc. They are unsatisfied by them all. They are on the left and the right.

The appeal of President Obama was and continues to be that he is different. Action, not words and meaningless decisions (e.g. firing the GM CEO), will determine that he is different. I await definitive action.
